Today: No baby yet + Good Friday
On April 25th, I’m officiating Dana’s younger brother’s wedding in NC.
If you’re new, we live in NJ.
Dana is due with our 4th child any minute now.
(Are we going to have another Easter baby??)
Oh, and we’re hosting my little sister’s wedding in our back yard in June.
Bit of a crazy time for us 😅
But I’ve come to peace with the fact that we tend to choose
adventure > comfort
the Spirit’s leading > what makes sense on paper
We were hoping (and praying) baby would have arrived by now.
Dana’s family heads down to NC for pre-wedding festivities on Easter Sunday.
My plan is to drive down at the crack of dawn on Thursday.
But here we are, waiting with not much else we can do.

me all week waiting for “the text”
It’s one of those times where we’re forced to come to grips with this truth that we often try to escape:
We are not in control.
We can choose to be anxious. We can choose fear.
We can ruminate on the what if’s.
And to some extent, we’ve done all of these things.
We’re not perfect.
But we’re learning.
We can have real peace in the midst of storms and uncertainty.
On the night before Jesus was crucified, he said this to his closest friends:
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
The peace Jesus offers is unlike anything else.
It’s not “positive thinking.”
It’s not pretending everything is okay.
It’s not delusion.
It’s not built on your own moral performance or striving.
It’s peace built on something rock solid.
It’s built on God’s love for you.
The same way I will never stop loving my children no matter what they do —
— God never stops loving us.
How do we know?
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
The peace Jesus gives only “works” because of what He did the days after he spoke these words to his disciples.
A Good Friday reflection:

With love,
Kieran
P.S. Here’s a song that captures this well.
